2年国際教養コース 留学報告 （カナダ）
My host family really likes to be active. On August the 21st, we had a block party! It is called“ Rock the Block .” In Canada, everyone is close to their neighbors like a family, so we had a party, and we invited about 20 people who live nearby.
It was my first time having a party, so I was very excited. I got up early and cleaned up our house while my family and my friends prepared for the party. First, we painted the symbol mark for the party. We used not only the house but also the street in front of our house.
We made some art using chalk on the street and it took over two hours to make! It became a nice decoration that corresponded with time. In the evening, the party was finally held! Neighbors brought food to our house. We played some games in English. It was like explaining some theme only in English. It was hard for me but it was a very good chance for me as I could talk with a lot of people in English.
I started to introduce myself to my neighbors. The neighbours were such good people and they were interested in Japan, and l taught them some Japanese words like “いただきます” and“ごちそうさまでした. ” There are no such words in English. I realized that Japanese culture is beautiful.I enjoyed the party very much. I had never experienced such a party to communicate with neighbors! I think that Canada is a place with a cozy atmosphere. I want to try something I can do only here and enjoy my life with these lovely people!
